Healthy Plate — Privacy Policy

About this policy

Last updated: October 8, 2026. This policy covers the Healthy Plate app for Android and Windows, made by G. Thompson / Niagara Indie Apps. It applies to both editions: the one on Google Play and the one downloaded from niagaraindieapps.com. The app does not need an account. Its recipes, food list and tracking features work without an internet connection.

What stays on your device

Your profile, body measurements, goals and targets, food diary, exercise, water, steps, weight history, check-ins, custom foods, recipes, shopping list and settings are stored only on your device. This is personal health information, and the app does not upload any of it anywhere.

No ads, analytics, or tracking

Healthy Plate contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash-reporting services, and no location tracking. It does not read your contacts or use your microphone. On Android, the camera is used only while the barcode scanner is open, and notifications are used only for reminders you turn on. Reminders are created on your device.

Barcode lookup

Barcode lookup is optional. When you scan or type a barcode, the app sends that barcode number, with the app name and version, to the Open Food Facts public database (openfoodfacts.org) to get the product details. Nothing about you or your diary is sent with it. Like any website, Open Food Facts can see the IP address the request comes from, and handles it under its own privacy policy.

Backups, exports and reports

Backups, CSV exports and PDF reports are created only when you ask for them, and are saved to the place you choose. They can contain your health records, so keep them somewhere safe. If you share a shopping list or recipe, the app passes its text to the app you choose on your device.

Free trial

Both editions include a free 3-day trial of the complete app. To run it, the app stores the time you first opened it, plus a random ID it creates when installed, on your device. That ID is not a hardware or advertising ID. In the edition downloaded from niagaraindieapps.com, the app also checks the trial with our license server when it is online, sending that random ID, this app's ID, the platform and the app version.

Website edition: license activation

After the trial, the website edition is unlocked with a license bought on this website. When you activate a license, the app sends the following to our license server at niagaraindieapps.com: • your license key • this app's ID • the random device ID described above • the platform (Android or Windows) and the app version When the app later re-checks the license while online, or when you remove a device, it sends only your license key and that device ID. Our server stores a one-way hash of the device ID, the platform, the app version, and when the device was activated and last checked. It also records the IP address of each license request in a license activity log. We use this only to verify your license, enforce its limit of 2 devices, and prevent license abuse. Your profile, food diary, measurements and other health records are never sent.

Google Play edition

After the trial, the Google Play edition is unlocked with a one-time purchase through Google Play Billing. Google processes that payment under its own privacy policy; the app only learns whether the unlock has been bought. This edition never contacts our servers and we never receive your payment details.

Purchases

Website licenses are bought on niagaraindieapps.com. The information you give at checkout (such as your email address) is covered by the site-wide Privacy Policy at niagaraindieapps.com/privacy. Card payments are processed by Stripe, and we never receive your full card number.

Deleting your data

You can delete all of your records at any time in the app under Settings → Data Backup, Restore & Export → Delete My Data. Uninstalling the app also deletes the data it stored on your device. To free a device from your license, use niagaraindieapps.com/license/manage. To ask us to delete the license records we hold, contact us as described below.

Children

Healthy Plate is a wellness tool for adults and is not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Healthy Plate changes how it handles data, we will update this page before that version is released.
